Councillor Steven Toomey
Creating a community-focused website for The Gap Ward.
Councillor Steven Toomey from the Brisbane City Council partnered with TA Digital to redesign his website and create a central digital hub for residents of The Gap Ward.
Cr. Toomey’s team approached us with a clear vision: a website where residents could easily access local updates, community news and council initiatives, while also providing a simple way for the community to contact the Councillor’s office. The previous website was difficult to manage and made it challenging for staff to update information quickly.
The goal was to design a modern, easy-to-navigate and mobile-responsive website that would serve as a reliable source of information for local residents. The platform also needed to include useful community resources such as directories and local park listings while remaining accessible and simple for the team to update.
By focusing on usability, accessibility and clear communication, the new website provides a stronger connection between the Councillor’s office and the community it serves.

TA Digital worked closely with Cr. Toomey’s team to design a clean and modern website that supports their communication goals while remaining simple for staff to manage. The platform was built on an easy-to-use content editor, allowing the Councillor’s team to quickly update news, announcements and community information whenever required.
Interactive features were also introduced to improve usability for residents, including a searchable parks directory and The Gap Ward community and sports directory. Combined with secure hosting and ongoing maintenance support, the website provides a reliable and accessible platform that strengthens engagement between the Councillor’s office and local residents.
The Impact
The new website has become an important communication platform for residents of The Gap Ward, providing easy access to community news, council initiatives and local resources.
Residents can now quickly find information about parks, community groups and sporting organisations while staying informed about updates from the Councillor’s office. The improved structure and responsive design also ensure the website is accessible across all devices.
Positive feedback from both the community and Cr. Toomey’s office highlights the website’s simplicity, visual clarity and usefulness as a central hub for local information.
